Contact Timeline
Recording your activity and tasks for a contact
Contents
Every contact on Mashoom has a history of your past activities with them together with a 'diary' of tasks to be completed in the future. This tool is called the 'Timeline' and you can see this in the middle of the main page of any contact and repeated when you open up a task to complete in Mission Control.

The timeline consists of two main types of information:
- Tasks - things we intend to do with the contact in the future, for instance call or email them
- Activity - the actions or logs we have for the contact; things that have happened
What The Timeline Tells You
Timeline is important because it informs you, through it's list of Activities and Tasks, about the 'health' of your contact. You can see a trail, in date order, of all types of activities you and your colleagues have completed with both the contact in question and any associated 'Relations'.
If you hover your cursor over the date of an activity you will also see the time - useful when wanting to identify a particular email sent to your contact when they are not sure if they received it and are searching though their busy email inbox.
Combined Timelines
When relations are setup between two contacts, their timelines are merged together. If the Quotes module is enabled, activity and tasks for quotes for this contact will also be displayed.

If the activity or task is for an associated contact, a box naming this contact appears above the timeline box. This can be clicked on to go to the connection contact or quote.
Searching and Filtering
Over time, Timelines can get full of entries and it can become difficult to identify all activities related to a topic quickly and accurately. To help you, Mashoom has a 'Search' feature which is located just above the last Timeline entry - just add a reference to the right of the 'Q' logo and this isolates and lists entries pertaining to your reference.
There are also options to hide or show associated tasks and activity.

Adding Activity and Tasks
Click on either of the two add buttons at the top of the timeline box to add new tasks and activity for this contact. The image below shows how to add a task:

When adding activity, you'll be presented with two options; 'Add Activity' (in orange) OR 'Add and Schedule New Task'. This is to prompt you that when you've done an activity, it's often a good idea to add a task to start a "task chain". The power of this workflow is described fully in the Mission Control tutorial.
