Adding A Contact

Showing you how to add organisations and individuals to your CRM database, and setting them up

Contents

Mashoom supports two types of Contacts - Organisations and People. This tutorial shows how to add a new contact to your CRM database, set them up in a manner most useful for your business, identify them with a particular market sector/grouping and create associations.

From the main menu (9 squares next to the logo), select the sub-heading "Add Contact" in the "Contact" section and you will be presented with your 'Add a new Contact' page.

Adding A New Contact

Select the type of new contact you want to add to the system, "Person" or "Organisation". Depending on how your account has been setup, you may see further sub types to select from, for instance their market sector or type.

You will then see all the input fields for this new contact. The name is the only field that's required, but it's good to try and fill in as much information as possible as it all helps when managing the contact in the future.

For more information on setting up different contact types, and custom fields, see our tutorial on our Fuzzy Data system.

Check the similar contacts section before adding the contact, to ensure you're not adding a duplicate of contact which is already on the system. These contact are clickable, so you can right click "open in a new tab" to check each contact to see if it's the same.

Next Steps

At this point it's good to try and fill in as much information as possible about the contact.

Importing Contact From Sage 200

When using the Sage 200 integration, contacts that haven't been added to Mashoom can be imported manually. There are also admin options to sync all contacts, this is when it's appropriate to import a single contact that you know exists in Sage. Click the "Import from Sage...", then search the customer or customer contact by name, then select from the list.
